Description
In 2009 a project five years in the making came to fruition. Our first children’s book was published. As always with our work here at The Lovespoon Workshop the lovespoon had a significant role to play. To promote our new book we decided to make a unique lovespoon to add to our family collection that is made in the shape and style of a book and as always it is handcarved from one single solid block of wood. A significant lovespoon challenge but definitely in keeping with our first children’s book that had the overcoming of challenges as it’s theme.
Written by Jill Thomas, the wife of Thomas the Woodcarver and illustrated by his daughter Michaela Sherlock, Kedrig’s Challenge was inspired by the environment in and around Castell Coch, near Tongwynlais. A tale of mystery and adventure aimed at encouraging the reluctant primary school aged reader to become engrossed as the challenges unfold. The first in the series of our children’s books, this edition focuses upon the central character of a young boy call Kedrig and his encounters with a number of dragons but there is more to the tale than simply a series of adventures…
Each copy of Kedrig’s Challenge is signed by the author and accompanied by a unique lovespoon shaped bookmark. Recommended for readers aged between seven and twelve.
